“You look pwetty Daddy!” the four year-old Brooke exclaimed in excitement. However, Dane wasn’t feeling the same thrill as he sat there, wearing every bit of Pretty Pretty Princess jewelry the game had to offer. Only they never played the game, Brooke just skipped to decorating him with every piece of jewelry.
“Well I feel very pretty.” he said sarcastically, knowing four year-olds didn’t catch on to sarcasm.
“Now you wazzle wazzle!” she exclaimed, attempting to quote one of Mommy’s musical movies.
“Razzle dazzle.” Dane corrected, trying to help her get her pronunciation right.
“Wazzle dazzle.” Brooke repeated in all seriousness. There were many times when Dane had been surprised at just how intelligent their four year-old was.
“Good enough.” He said with a laugh and ruffled the little girl’s hair. Just then the bedroom door opened, revealing Cicely who just got home.
“Well… look at you!” she said, doing her very best to hold in her laughter, for Brook’s sake obviously.
“Mommy!” the little girl ran up to her mother, briefly hugging her legs before taking Cicely’s hand and pulling her over to the miniature table Dane was sitting at. “Doesn’t Daddy look pwetty?!” she asked proudly, showing off her magnificent work.
“He looks like a princess!” Cicely responded with a teasing smile to a very unamused Dane.

“Where are you?....Okay… how long?... Okay… Yea…sure…” hanging up his cell phone, Peter let out a soft sigh. He and Jason were supposed to spend time together today, but he was already cutting time short with practice running late… Which was understandable, after all, he couldn’t control those kinds of things… Jason had just called to let him know he was running late, and to meet him in Nadia’s room, where Jason had left his jacket the night before.
Approaching the shared room of Nadia and Ivy, Peter knocked softly on the door. With no answer, he tried the handle, and successfully entered the room. These girls had been his friend for years now, so he didn’t have any reservations of waiting inside their room. Closing the door behind him, Peter entered the room. Without the two girls inside of it, the room seemed rather…empty, and extremely quiet. Sitting on Nadia’s bed, Peter waited patiently for Jason to come.
A few minutes passed by before Peter received another phone call from Jason, saying he was running late. Hanging up the phone with another sigh, Peter looked around the room in silence. His gaze stopped upon a dress of Ivy’s laying out on her bed. He paused for a moment… thoughts that he would never admit out loud were crossing his mind… Well Jason said he’d be a few minutes… And its not like anyone was here right now…
Peter couldn’t really say what it was within him that caused him to put on the dress, he wasn’t into any of that cross-dressing stuff, despite what stereotypes often labeled gay men as... But before he knew it, his shirt was off and he was slipping the thing over his head. It would only be a second…. His jeans kinda made the dress look bumpy… Peter slipped off his jeans, leaving them in a pile around his ankles. Looking at himself in the mirror, Peter couldn’t help but laugh. He looked like…. well, a man in a dress.
Peter looked at himself once more, but this time, what he saw was different. He saw a girl… Not that he looked like a girl, and not that he wanted to be one… but sometimes in the back of his mind, there was a brief flicker of such a desire. But it only existed for one reason. It’s what Jason wanted… He could go on and on about how special their relationship was and how perfect it was, but Peter knew, deep down, that it wasn’t what Jason wanted. He wanted that ‘All American Dream’, and though he tried to push the thought to the back of his mind… Peter sometimes feared that one day he’d just up and leave him for a woman. Looking in the mirror, a small smile flickered upon his face. It was silly… but he felt, at that moment, like what Jason wanted. In his own imagination, he was a girl, and his life with Jason was perfect.
The sudden opening of the door caused Peter to jump and scramble to retrieve the pants that were hanging around his ankles. But it was too late, Jason had already walked in and saw him in the dress. Peter could feel his cheeks get hotter as he blushed, avoiding all eye contact.
Closing the door behind him, Jason walked over to Peter. “What are you doing?” he asked with a laugh as Peter stood up, realizing it was too late to hide himself. “You look ridiculous. Peter, you were not meant to be a girl.” He said, laughing even more at his boyfriend’s appearance.
Peter looked at him for a moment, a genuine smile spreading across his face. Jason’s simple words made Peter realize just how silly he was acting. He didn’t need to be a girl to have Jason’s love, because he already had it. He was a boy, it was who he was meant to be, and Jason was who he was mean to be with. With a laugh at his own expense, Peter pulled off the dress, tossing it back on Ivy’s bed, and returned to his own clothes.

Hopping off the couch, Max walked over to Jude, how was standing in the middle of the room, holding his hand out towards Max. Dropping the quarter in his friend’s hand, it clinked with the other three quarters, four dimes, five nickels, and nine pennies.
“So that’s, what, a dolla forty nine, ya?” the Brit said, fingering through the change in his hand. “And that’ll get us…?” he asked with an amused chuckle.
“That,” Max said, putting a hand on Jude’s shoulder while pointing down at the coins, “my friend, is lunch.” He grinned at Jude, then pat his shoulder and began heading to the door. “Man, we gotta get jobs.” He said before breaking out in brief laughter.
